Wind Your Watch
Amazon recently sent me an ad about an automatic watch winder. Believe it or not, the watch winder is for real. This little item is for those of us that own self-winding watches, but don't exercise enough for the watches to wind themselves. Or maybe we own too many self-winding watches to wear all of them enough to keep them wound. Or maybe we can't afford to pay someone to wear the watches for us.
The watch winder plugs in to a regular electric outlet, and comes in sizes that will exercise one or more watches. Can you imagine a watch winder that winds a dozen watches at a time.
I don't get it! Self-winding watches are really old school! If you have so much money that you need a watch winder, why don't you just buy a watch that operates on a battery and runs for five to seven years before you have to change it, or throw it away, or give it to a thrift store?
I think I'll buy a watch winder just to say I own it. And I'll store it in the closet next to my pillow made from belly button lint. Or maybe I'll buy a self-winding watch and attach it to my dog's collar when I need it wound. He would know whether to go or wind my watch.
